Company leaders look to us to
evaluate and solve business
problems. Solutions aligned with
business strategies.
MILESTONE is an IT infrastructure life-cycle support company. We help clients solve business problems at any point along the life-cycle of IT infrastructure, computing platforms or technology. When companies need to quickly and effectively assess how next generation technologies can serve them, they engage MILESTONE’s Assess ITSM business unit.
Business today must be able to keep pace with fast moving client opportunities. IT offers many ways for companies to grow their businesses. Automation, mobility, business video, remote incident management, Collaboration technologies and integrating Macintosh equipment are examples of technology, that when integrated, can quickly transform businesses to operate at the real-time speed of commerce.
Each MILESTONE assessment is a unique study for a unique set of circumstances. While there is commonality in IT, there is also massive diversity. MILESTONE’s Assess ITSM evaluations are individual studies that address specific business problems and determine the technical needs associated with implementing the solution.
Holistic approach. Clear engineering vision.
Results with recommendations.
MILESTONE assessments apply technology and engineering to solve individual business problems that our clients view as impediments to their growth and/or stability. Our assessment projects are generally performed for companies who are headquartered in the western United States. We commonly support remote facilities, but decision makers tend to be headquartered near our engineering offices in Silicon Valley, California.
While every assessment we undertake is a unique project for a unique client, we apply the same methodology to any problem solving situation. We often work in consort with client representatives such as senior IT managers, senior business directors and C-level executives who know they need to transform their business practices to keep pace with their fast moving customers.
MILESTONE Assess ITSM methodology follows our proven, repeatable, yet flexible four-phase approach.
A. Phase 1 : The Plan
MILESTONE assessments begin with identifying business objectives. Then we assure that all future project efforts are driven directly by those same objectives. With the business goals firmly established, each assessment plan is built to include:
- Schedule of meetings
- Determine major tasks, review and prioritize
- Figure milestones to measure task attainment
- Identify team and team leader(s)
- Identify clear KPIs and success criteria
- Establish clear communication channels
- Understand current environment
- Perform accurate and useable capacity plan
- Validate template use is in alignment with project
- Establish documentation guidelines
B. Phase 2 : Design
The Design phase begins with establishing the design deliverables. We draft a detailed framework to efficiently and accurately produce the design results in accordance with the Phase 1 objectives. The design phase will generally include:
- Auditing and verifying change control procedures
- Establishing escalation protocol and processes
- Preloading templates as required for implementation, testing and back-out contingencies
- Creation of delivery checklists
- Establishing project go/no go check points
- Client design validation and Proof of Concept development
C. Phase 3 : Deliver
MILESTONE coordinates all required procurement efforts for any commodity that may be identified in Phase 1 or Phase 2. This can include but is not limited to Proof of Concept implementation equipment, any software or other intellectual property that may be required by the assessment. During phase 3, all procurements are made and verified against the design specification and are tested to operate in accordance with the design. Each is physically inspected and validated prior to installation or placed for readiness. Any equipment or processes derived as part of a MILESTONE assessment are ‘cut-over’ during this phase.
D. Phase 4 : Optimize and Reporting
This post deployment phase begins with next-day support assistance. With certain assessments, users or operators may require assistance starting up or using new equipment. Other assessments can result in IT infrastructure retrofitting, modification or further enhancement recommendations. These results, recommendations and conclusions are presented in a final report and comprise the final documentation for the assessment.
